Access to Justice

Having worked at a student-run legal aid clinic while in law school and on countless Legal Aid files, Our firm is aware that Legal Aid Ontario’s eligibility requirements are vastly limiting to the general population of litigants who need legal representation. Meanwhile, the majority of private legal fees remain out of reach for hardworking Canadians.

As a free market and competition-loving consumer, Our firm value price transparency in all the industries we participate in. Our clients should always be offered a clear idea upfront regarding how much it will cost to hire us.

We are committed to provide fast, responsive, and affordable legal service. We will consider which method would best suit the circumstances and your case. You can also choose the most comfortable way to pay fees in a variety of ways, including:

  • An hourly rate, charging for the actual time spent on the client matter;

  • Fees by stages, Charging for a matter that is broken down into stages, and an estimate is given as to the fee for each stage or step in the matter;

  • Contingency fees, where payment of part or all of the legal’s fee depends upon the successful disposition or completion of the matter for which our services are provided;

  • A block, fixed or flat rate, charges a fixed amount for performing a particular task.

Examples of legal work that will increase the cost of your defence include the preparation, filing, and arguing of various laws and the Charter applications (if applicable), the number of witnesses involved in your case, the types of evidence involved in your case, and, hiring experts, and multi-day hearings (if applicable).

These cost estimates do not include expenses and disbursements like mileage, travel time, photocopying fees, transcript fees, retainers for expert witnesses, etc. For proceedings outside the Toronto region, additional charges for mileage, travel time, and accommodations may be applicable.
